Inventive Einsteins

This morning we discovered that the door lock on the main entrance sliding door was pulling out. Although we consider our Bavaria Nautitech 40 Open to be a well build boat there are details that need improving including the door lock. After 3500 miles and surely over 500 open and closing actions the plastic receiver of the door lock finally gave up it's ghost. 

My friend Bill and myself came up with a simpler and stronger solution namely rebuilding the receiver out of metal and not out of plastic. Here is our creative drawing.
